Chris R2024-06-03You must book with JP Orkney tours. They are so amazing. You get a personal experience, great hospitality, and an up close look at Kirkwall. We loved every minute and all the details the company provides. Paul is a great guide. He is sincere, knowledgeable, and helps you make the most of your visit. He took us to many Neolithic sites, old castle ruins, we saw a Viking village, St Magnus cathedral and this list goes on. If you can , I highly recommend their picnic lunch. Paul and his wife , Jane, have a catering business and make homemade jams and chutney. ( delicious and I highly recommend getting some . About 3-5 pounds each) They make you a beautiful lunch and you enjoy it in a picture perfect place. In our case, we sat overlooking the sea as weather was in our favor. Of all the tours we have been on, we all (group of 6) rank this as number one. I highly recommend them and. I strongly suggest booking early as you don’t want to miss out.
Bron Wolter2024-05-31We visited Orkney in May of 2023 and were lucky enough to enjoy a delicious lunch featuring wonderful products from JP Orkney. We purchased some of the Rhubarb Chutney and the different types of tablet to bring back home to Australia. The products were fresh and tasty. The chutney is brilliant with lovely bread and cold meats or with a cheese board. The home made Scottish tablet was so good.. I really loved the Cardamom flavoured one! It’s great to be able to enjoy memories of our fabulous trip as we are back home and I would happily purchase your products again! Cheers!!
Peter zQuirk2024-05-21A truly enjoyable and informative day with JP Orkney Tours. Paul is friendly and knowledgeable on the amazing history and life on Orkney, both historical and current. We got to visit the Standing Stones of Stenness, Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Brough of Birsay and back to St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall. The Neolithic, Pictish and Viking history there is amazing. We also enjoyed a lovely picnic, prepared by Jane sitting on Skaill Beach. All in all a perfect day, he even arranged good weather for the day. His enthusiasm and matched humour made the day go well. We visited Orkney specially to see the Neolithic sites and Paul was our guide. He is very knowledgeable about the sites, their excavations and findings. He designed a tour that was perfect for us fitting in with the tides and the limited access time to one of the sites. As well as showing us what we had come for, he also gave us a great tour of Orkney and showed us much of the lovely coastline, views of the other islands and beaches. Travel was in an electric people carrier, very comfortable, with a picnic lunch overlooking a beautiful sandy beach. The picnic included foods grown locally prepared by Paul and Jane. Yummy.
We were on an 11-night cruise, and our stay in Orkney was the highlight of our entire trip! Paul was a wonderful guide and we loved exploring the islands with him. JP Orkney provided us with a delicious lunch, and because of the great weather we were able to enjoy this picnic overlooking the ocean. All in all it was a perfect day. Looking forward to our next visit, and having another tour with JP Orkney.
I waited to post this until our three-week British Isles and Northern Europe cruises were complete. After visiting 20 locations, hands down, JP Orkney provided the best shore tour for the entire trip. From the very start of planning our excursion, I was impressed. Their website is well done, Paul was prompt in all of his communications, and he provided an excellent list of sites to see. When we arrived at the port he was there waiting for us. He was very knowledgeable about the sites as well as answering our constant questions about the Kirkwall area […] Thank you Paul for the perfect visit, and the jam was excellent. Bravo!
