EXPERIENCE AND SAVOUR FLAVOURS
Our Orkney Produce was developed through our love of working with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. A cottage industry first created as gift-bag fillers, our Orkney Produce now generates regular orders throughout the island and beyond.
I'm Jane and I do the cooking, while Paul has the enviable task of chief taster! I spent ten years teaching Nutrition and Home Economics, and my qualifications include BSc Honours Food Systems and Quality Assurance, Advanced Food Hygiene and Level 2 Wines and Spirits.
Proud members of the Orkney Farmers' Market Association, we love working with local producers to create bespoke products. We use Orkney beremeal from Barony Mill, Orkney butter, Orkney rhubarb, Orkney Roastery coffee, junipers from Deerness Distillery and our home-grown fruit in the meringues.
You can buy from our shop or swing by Birsay and stop at our honesty box affectionately known as "The Little Yellow Hut". We also supply our Orkney Produce to tour guides, self-catering accommodation, private events and bespoke orders.
We use recycled labels and packaging, and our plastic bags are compostable.

OUR CURRENT ORKNEY PRODUCE RANGE
Orkney Rhubarb Chutney
Excellent balance of sweetness and acidity. The vinegar doesn’t overpower at any point. Soft consistency with a fruity depth. Great served with cheese, meats or simply with butter and Oatcakes.
Piccalilli
Excellent balance of mustard and acidity, no overpowering flavours. Small chunks allow for a good mouthful of all flavours. Good crunch too. Great with cold meats, smoked fish, mackerel and cheese.
Caramelised Carrot Jam
Despite being sweet the carrot flavour shines through and works really well with Squeaky Farmhouse Cheese (local cheese) or crumbly cheese such as Wensleydale or Lancashire.
Spiced Beetroot Relish
Not overly spicy, rather Christmas-style spices. Great with cold meat, clap shot (turnip/swede and potato mash) and smoked fish.
Rhubarb & Raspberry Jam
Fabulous colour, background notes of star anise (not too much) gives a real depth to the jam. Great on warm scones and crumpets or with thick rich Greek yoghurt.
Orkney Rhubarb Jam
A little vanilla essence gives a smooth, creamy edge. Not tart as maybe expected with rhubarb. Works so well with almonds in a Bakewell Tart or simply with buttercream in a plain sponge.
Cucumber Pickle (Juniper Infused)
Packed full of flavour this pickle is far from sharp and vinegary. Infused with distilled junipers from Deerness Distillery the cucumber and onion transform into piquant sweet vegetables. The liquor itself can be used to create vinaigrette using cold pressed Scottish Rapeseed oil. Fabulous with, rye, cured meats, smoked fish, baba ganoush and salty cheese.
Coffee Tablet
Made using Orkney butter and Aria Espresso coffee from the Orkney Roastery. Smooth and sugary without being squidgy like fudge.
Vanilla Tablet
Made using Orkney butter, and vanilla essence. Again, smooth and sugary without being squidgy.
Cardamom & White Chocolate Tablet
Made using Orkney butter and a gentle infusion of cardamom in Orkney milk. Delicate flavours not overpowering, and a smooth and sugary finish.
Chocolate Tablet
Made using Orkney butter and Fairtrade cocoa powder. Strangely tastes like chocolate brownies. Firm and sugary whilst still being smooth and creamy; once opened too tempting to close.
Fatty Cutties
Originating from Westray (outer island of Orkney) these biscuits are made with such simple ingredients, flour, sugar, currants and butter. What makes them special and so moreish is the Orkney butter and being cooked on a griddle. Proud to have won first prize at the West Mainland Flower, Produce and Industrial Show.
